11. Navigation satellites - pros and cons

Con
Can be very accurate - 30cm or better with the right equipment It can be fiddly to set up a destination. Dangerous to try and set it up whilst driving
No need for a person to use a paper map Sat Nav can sometimes lead you down unsuitable roads - use common sense as well.
Can offer 'points of interest' if you are a tourist May not recognise your destination
Can offer different types routes, such as Fastest, Motorway maximised, Scenic etc Tall buildings or forests could block the signal
Time saved by not having to plan an unfamiliar route Need to have map-reading skills (and a paper map) in case the Sat Nav stops working
Can set 'Home' so no need to work out the way back as well. Storms and bad weather can affect accuracy
Can have maps of other countries as well as the UK Maps need to be updated to keep track of road changes
