Role of Microprocessor
Automatic door

Interprets readings taken from the sensors to determine if a person is approaching the doors

Acts on the interpreted reading i.e. if no person then the door remains shut, if person is approaching then the door opens

Interprets readings from the sensors to determine when the person has cleared the doors and it is safe to shut them

Controls the motors which open and shut the doors



Interprets choices made by user i.e. number of copies, double sided copies and sends instructions to copier software

Controls the display on the front of the machine i.e. if 100 copies chosen it will subtract one from that number each time a copy is produced

Sends signals to the motors to move parts of the photocopier as necessary

Factory robot

Gathers information from sensors in the robot's arm regarding its position

Processes this information according to rules in robot's software

Issues instructions to motors and mechanisms to guide the robot to conduct its next task
