5. Caller display

Caller display indicates the calling number on your phone's display. Furthermore, if that number is in the contacts list held within the phone, it will display the name of the person as well.

This is a very convenient way of screening calls. For example you may be in an important meeting at work and your best friend calls. You can see who is calling and choose to pick it up or not.

Caller display is often not free - your telephone provider may charge a monthly fee for the service.

Caller display may not show the number if:

  • caller withholds their number
  • the call is from a payphone
  • the call is from a private switchboard
  • the call has been made from a different telephone network

Another popular feature of caller display on a mobile phone is to have a specific ring tone allocated to each person in your contact list. In that way you do not even have to look at the display to know who is calling.
