Alphanumeric
The term 'alphanumeric' tends to be used in reference to a datatype.
Alphanumeric data can consist of a combination of numbers, letters and symbols.
For example, a postcode would be alphanumeric data e.g. WR14 2CT. so would a car registration number, e.g. NR54 TPE. Also a house address e.g. 20 High Street.
Note: alphanumeric data doesn't have to contain a mixture of numbers and letters, it can also be purely text, for example, 'John Smith'.
