Programming Language

A programming language is used by a programmer to write computer software.

There are many programming languages, each with their own advantages. Examples include BASIC, 'C', C++, Java, FORTRAN, COBOL.

Note that HTML is not a programming language.

A programming language is not a spoken language. It is a way of describing what the programmer wants the computer to do.

A computer program is sometimes called a piece of 'code', or 'source code' and the actual writing of a piece of source code is called 'coding'.
