Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI)

Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) is a local bus standard used inside personal computers for connecting peripherals such as sound cards, TV card and so on.

Inside the computer case, a PCI slot looks like a long, narrow socket. They are often arranged side by side so the cards that slot into them make the best use of the space available.
