Geek

A generally derogatory term to describe someone who loves technology to excess, in particular knowing the fine detail which seems 'geeky' to other people. For example, knowing the operating frequencies of every Intel micro ever made would be considered 'geeky'.

The description is also used to suggest that they have a limited social life because of their obsession with technology

However, some people like to call themselves geeks and are proud of it!

Very similar in meaning to the word 'nerd'.
