FLV

This is the new video streaming technology for Adobe Flash.

Video, in the form of FLV files are stored on the web server. When a visitor comes across a page linking to an FLV file, the server will begin to send the data down to the Flash player. As soon as enough data has been received, the player will begin to show the video. This is called 'streaming' as not all the file needs to be received before you can view it.

Web sites such as YouTube make heavy use of FLV technology.
