Configuration File

Many software applications can be customised to suit your personal requirements. For example you might always want the drawing toolbar to appear when you use your word processor, or you might want the spell checker to check spellings using the English dictionary. You don't really want to have to set this up every time you open up the application.

So, quite often, the application allows you to save your settings in a 'configuration file'. The application would then read this configuration file every time you wanted to use the software.
