Spoof Newspaperspoof

Students could improve their skills with Publisher by creating a spoof newspaper. Initially, focus on the front page and get them to create a mirror image of a real tabloid paper but with their own fun stories and images.

This project will take several weeks to complete.

Materials needed

Before the club, collect a few copies of the front page of a tabloid paper. If you have time, you could prepare the masthead and put it into the shared drive for students to use.

You can differentiate by giving weaker students ready made templates where they just need to fill in the headings and stories.

The more able could use follow the video tutorial linked below and find out how to merge two photographs, thus allowing them to put their favourite celebrities into local shots - or they could put their least favourite into an unusual situation and then write about it.
