KS3 Main menu KEY STAGE THREE

Assessment levels when working with spreadsheets

Level 4

  • Has seperated planning from execution - hasn't just gone straight to the computer to create the work, possibly planned on paper first
  • Evidence of refining work e.g. changed colour, font
  • Has combined relevant pictures and text
  • Work shows an awareness of audience - font sizes and styles are suitable, colours work well
  • Has explored the use of models e.g. changed a few variables to see what happens

Level 5

  • All previous levels have been obtained
  • Start of independent learning - is able to try to find out how to do something for themselves without automatically asking the teacher
  • Range of tools used within a task e.g. charts imported into Word
  • Able to make a prediction then change variables within a model and comment on success of prediction afterwards
  • Select the correct format for data throughout e.g. currency
  • Evaluating their work - able to discuss what has worked well and not so well and make sensible suggestions for improvement.
  • Justify decisions - explain through annotation their thoughts and reasoning

Level 6

  • Different forms and styles - able to present the data in a variety of ways
  • Modularity moving towards efficiency - use of autofil, autosum, macros, absolute cell reference. Understand the use of these and able to explain and justify - not just used because shown by the teacher once.
  • Able to set up a comprehensive model by themselves.
