Globalisation & ICT
Theory
Whilst there is no doubt that globalisation has provided many benefits for businesses and individuals around the world, not everyone has been able to benefit from such changes. Many people simply don't have the cash to purchase or run a computer. Many people don't have the skills required to use a computer. |

Some countries and their people are at a great disadvantage and they simply cannot get access to the benefits of globalisation. They may live where there is no electricity to even power a computer. There may be a poor telecommunications infrastructure and even if they have a computer, they cannot get onto the Internet. They may not speak or understand English, and lets face it, the vast majority of business takes place in English. As mentioned above, they may not have the money to purchase a computer or the skills to use one. |
Some Governments place restrictions on what their citizens are allowed to see and access via the Internet. Read some of the news stories here to find out more. |
