Page 10: Creating web pages from Office packages

Web pages are written in HTML. There are a number of ways to create a web page.

Straight from an Office application

This is probably the most straight forward method. You create a page in your favourite wordprocessing, spreadsheet or presentation package,

Then you use File -> Save As -> Web Page as shown below.

The application will then create the web page and give it an extension of HTM or HTML

Advantage

• No need to know anything about HTML
• Simple

Disadvantage

• Can only create a basic page
• The size of the .HTM files tend to be larger than other choices and so are slower to download.
