3. Technical Drawing

Creating paper designs of an object by hand was a highly skilled job and took many years of training. 

Although this method worked at the time, there were several problems with it:

• It takes a great deal of skill to draw something accurately, to scale
• It can take many years of training to learn the skills of technical drawing
• It can take a long time to create each drawing
• Many drawings would need to be created to see the object from different angles
• It is not easy to fix mistakes without making a mess of the drawing
• It is not easy to make copies of the drawing.
