Workbook 16 1. Introduction
When you buy a new software program you might think that you own it and that you can do what you want with it.
For example, you might decide to make a copy and give it to a friend. After all, your friend wasn't going to buy it anyway so you can't see that you have done anything wrong.
What you might not realise is that doing this is illegal!
Did you know that even loaning your software to a someone in your family could mean you are breaking the law?
Over the next few pages we will be looking in a little bit more detail about the issue of copyright and how it affects both you and businesses.
We will also be taking a look at the Data Protection legislation.
