How Danny made his poster

To start of with I browsed the web for a virus symbol and then opened it up in Adobe Flash cs3 and traced over it and saved it as a png file.

I then opened it up in Adobe Photoshop changed it to a solid white shape and duplicated the layer 3 times and put a Gaussian blur  on each layer to give a glow effect.

I then Merged these layers together and  selected the layer and pressed Ctrl+B to change the color balance so i would have a yellow glow.

I then saved this as a png file and put it out of the way for the moment.

After this I made the cartoon by tracing a picture out of a book (I changed it a bit) and scanning it into the computer.

I then opened it up in Adobe Flash CS3 and created a new layer and drew using the pen tool all the outlines.

I then deleted the original picture and i was left with the basic outlines, it needed some colour so I picked different colours and filled the areas like the tie (red & Black) and the shirt (white).

I saved this as a png file also and put it out of the way for the moment.

Then I opened a new window in Adobe fireworks CS3 and made the background roughly A4 in size.

After this I put a gradient on going from red to no color, this was now my main background.

Next I imported my my virus logo and positioned it where i thought it looked best.

Then I imported the cartoon and positioned it so it was looking up at the virus symbol.

After this I wrote virus alert in an interesting font and gave it a green glow to make it a bit more dramatic.

I drew a curved line with the pen tool and selected both the writing and the line in the layer window and selected text at the top and then selected attach text to path so now I had the writing in a curved pattern and then positioned it on the top of the virus symbol.

I then thought it could do with a phrase at the bottom so i got the gradient tool and put blue fading into nothing at the bottom.

After this I wrote the phrase, "KEEP YOUR COMPUTER CLEAN, SCAN IT" at positioned it in the center.

To make it stand out a bit more I decided to select the writing and changed the style to "Chrome Reflective 008" I was happy with it.

After this I chose the ellipse tool and put a circle at the center of the virus symbol and changed the style of this to "Chrome Reflective 008" also.

I decided it needed a bit more so i looked on the internet and found a picture of a human virus.

I imported this picture into fireworks and duplicated it and changed the blending mode of each to "Screen" and positioned in the top right and top left of the poster.

I still felt it needed a bit more so I decided to put a border around the edges.

I came up with the idea of putting zero's and one's around the outside as it was related to computers.

I was finally pleased with my creation so i saved it as a JPEG and to make sure it was exactly A4 in size I inserted it into Microsoft Office Word 2007 and stretched it to A4 size and saved it and then sent it to you via E-Mail.
