Answers:
1. In your own words, explain the purpose of the service being offered to a deaf person. The service enables a deaf person to use the phone in order to communicate with anyone else in real time. 2. List the technology that is being used to provide this service Both the deaf person and the intermediary need access to a computer with a webcam. They both need access to the Internet. The intermediary also needs access to a telephone through which they will speak to the person for whom the message is intended. 3. Outline how the technology and service works. The deaf person communicates with an intermediary by using sign language. The intermediary can see exactly what the deaf person is signing because they both use web cams. The intermediary then relays the message via the normal telephone system to the recipient of the call. The intermediary translates the spoken responses into sign language that the deaf person can then receive.
This service would enable deaf people to communicate with others far more easily and enable them to relay and receive information. It would help to make them feel less isolated in the workplace.
5. Undertake some research of your own and find out about another technology that is being developed to help those with a hearing impairment communicate more easily. Accept any suitable answer |
