5. Word Fields

So far we have talked about merged fields e.g. <<forename>>, <<address>>

A merged field is a 'placeholder'. It is a position on the document where the data will be merged from the database fields into the main document.

Word fields are a different thing - do NOT get them mixed up with merge fields.

A word field is an instruction that can be added to a mail merge document.

Word fields allow the user to:

- filter out unwanted fields

- insert specific information (such as the date and time)

- ask for input from the user

- to determine if a letter is to be generated.wordfield

The main Word fields that you will come across are:

ASK

FILL-IN

IF..THEN .. ELSE

NEXT RECORD

SKIP RECORD IF
