3. Paragraphs
A paragraph is a section of text, usually made up from a number of sentences. The start and end of a paragraph are signaled by a line break and/or an indentation of the first line of text.
Why do we need paragraphs?
Reading a dense, uninterrupted mass of characters is very hard work.

This is why 'paragraphs' were developed very early on in the history of writing.
A paragraph breaks up the text into easier-to-read chunks or sections.
Each paragraph is separated from the one below it by an empty line space produced by an extra character return like this:

A paragraph may follow a 'house style'.
Anyone producing documents in a house style has to follow the same rules for font size, line spacing, bullet point style, alignment, numbering style, margin width and so on in order to produce a consistent look and feel to each document.
