8. Pages

A page is all of the contents of a document which when printed, will fit onto a single side of paper.

The contents can include:

  • text
  • images
  • Word Art
  • tables
  • charts
  • lists

A page will contain defined margins left, right, top and bottom which help define the area left for text and graphical elements.

The amount of content which can be fitted onto a single page depends on the paper size, the font size and style used, the number and size of images etc.

Pages can be set to different sizes, e.g. A4, A5, legal

In order to help find your way around a document with many pages, page numbers are often used along with a 'Table of Contents' or an Index to help locate specific information.

Pages are not just limited to those produced by documents or publications. They can also include web pages.

A web page is a single area within the browser that you can scroll up or down. If you wish to view a different page then you have to use some navigation method such as a menu item
