3. Broadband limits

Another factor to take into account when considering an ADSL connection is the amount of data you are allowed to download per month by the Internet Service Provider (ISP).

For instance you may have opted for a cheaper limited-data allowance service because you only use the internet to view a few web sites and send emails.

On the other hand you may be a keen gamer or you subscribe to a video streaming service such as Netflix, which means need to have a more expensive service offering a higher data download allowance (a single HD episode of a box set can take 1GB of download allowance).

Most 'unlimited' services have a 'fair-use' clause in the contract that allows the company to throttle your connection speed if you exceed the limit or charge extra.
