2. Types of organisations have different requirements.
As has been mentioned - all organisations need information. However, it does depend to some extent on the nature of the operation as to what kind of information is the most important.

Note: Some information types are not obvious - for example why should the stock exchange care about the weather? Well, think about the coffee harvest in Brazil, if the long term forecast is dry then poor coffee crop => coffee shortage => prices go up => more profit => higher share price. So buy before anyone else cottons on to that piece of information!
