3. How Information is represented

There are many creative ways of presenting information to the people who wish to be informed of it.

Graphically

People are excellent at seeing patterns and trends in visual information and so graphics can be a very effective way of communicating.

Consider this:

Even without seeing the numbers on the axis, it is obvious that there is a strong trend upwards in this information.

Graphs are used extensively to present numerical information.

 

Symbols

Sometimes it is essential to convey information without the person having to understand a particular language. Symbols are used that are easily understood by most people - even from a distance.

 

 

But not all symbols are immediately obvious

Once again you need to know the context of the data - in this case the symbol appears in an airport and so this means 'immigration desk'
